Germany private - an anthology of folk films is a film project by Robert van Ackeren from 1980. On the basis of various private film recordings, he created a heterogeneous mixture of recordings of private parties, vacation pictures and explicitly erotic material.

reception

  • “The editing of various Super 8 amateur films into a full-length panorama of German intimacies. Declared as sociologically and film-historically valuable regional studies, the film soon reveals its voyeuristic and speculative character - especially since the origin of the material is not sufficiently proven and the boundary between found and staged recordings remains unclear. "( Lexicon of international film )
  • "Robert Van Ackeren put together a full-length panorama of German intimacies in 1980 with" Deutschland privat ", a humorous, albeit arbitrary selection of (highly) private amateur films." (Tvmovie.de)

background

In 1979, by placing advertisements in various magazines, van Ackeren called for private films in Super 8 format to be made available to him for a film project. The resulting film Germany Private - An Anthology of Folk Films is an extract from over 200 hours of viewed film material.

The sequel Germany Private - In the Land of Colorful Dreams came to German cinemas on June 21, 2007.
