Devereaux R. Mytton ( October 28, 1924 - May 9, 1989 ) was an Australian sailor .
successes
Devereaux Mytton took part in the 1956 Olympic Games in Melbourne , where he competed in the 5.5-meter class alongside Douglas Buxton as a crew member of Skipper Jock Sturrock . The three Australians won one of the seven races with their boat Buraddoo and finished third with 4022 points, just 28 points behind the second-placed British skipper Robert Perry . The Swedish boat led by Lars Thörn became Olympic champion . In addition to the silver medal of John Scott and Rolly Tasker , who finished second in the Sharpie , this was the first medal win by Australian sailors at the Olympic Games.
