successes

Rolly Tasker took part in two Olympic Games . At the 1956 Games in Melbourne , he started with John Scott in the Sharpie boat class . Although they were initially classified in first place overall after the last race, the top-placed Australians were disqualified for the last race after a protest by the French crew. The two New Zealanders Jack Cropp and Peter Mander were tied on points with Tasker and Scott, but had won three of the seven races, whereas the Australians only had two wins. Due to the larger number of races won, Mander and Cropp received the gold medal, while Tasker and Scott received silver. Four years later he sailed in Rome in the Flying Dutchman , but did not get past 18th place with Ian Palmer .

In between, Tasker and Palmer became world champions in the Flying Dutchman at the Attersee in 1958 . 1962 followed in Saint Petersburg winning the silver medal with Andrew White . Tasker was Australian champion four times with the Sharpie and the Flying Dutchman. He was also very successful in numerous offshore regattas.

Tasker was inducted into the Sport Australia Hall of Fame in 1996 . In 2006 he was made a member of the Order of Australia .
