Devrimci Yol (Revolutionary Way, also Dev-Yol ) is one of the political groups that emerged from the radical left-wing organization Türkiye Devrimci Gençlik, which was banned in Turkey in 1971 . The date of foundation is May 1st, 1977, the time of the first edition of the magazine of the same name.

Devrimci Yol was formed from members of the Dev-Genç in conflict with the theses of the Turkish People's Liberation Party Front (THKP-C) by Mahir Çayan . Dev-Yol viewed itself more as a movement, although it conforms to Marxist-Leninist organizational principles. After the military coup in Turkey in 1980 , many trials were conducted against supporters of the organization, so that organizational cohesion was lost.

The main trial against members of Devrimci Yol in Ankara

After the coup on September 12, 1980, the main trial of Devrimci Yol's relatives was brought before the military court in Ankara . 723 people were charged, and on May 4, 1988 the public prosecutor pleaded for the death penalty against 74 people. The trial began on October 18, 1982. In the indictment, the military prosecutor named Oğuzhan Müftüoğlu , Nasuh Mitap , Ali Başpınar , Melih Pekdemir , Ali Alfatlı , Mehmet Akın Dirik and Mehmet Ali Yılmaz as members of the Central Committee formed in April 1979. In addition to the so-called resistance committees, whose task was the fight against fascism and the takeover of power in the country, there were also armed resistance committees.

Constitutional Protection Reports

Both the Federal Office for the Protection of the Constitution and the state offices have consistently referred to Devrimci Yol as a left-wing extremist organization from Turkey. As an example, reference is made here to the brochure "Turkish Left-Wing Extremist Organization in Germany" from 2007:

“The organization 'Devrimci Yol' was considered the most dangerous extremist group in Turkey in the 1970s because of its terrorist activities [...] The group has not been terrorist in Turkey for years, but continues to remind of its past on its website . In Germany, the organization Devrimci Yol appeared since 1984 mainly under the name Devrimci İşçi ("Revolutionary Workers"). Since 1993/1994, however, it fell apart as a result of inactivity and weak leadership of its functionaries. It currently has only a few members in Germany. "
