Dhrol ( Gujarati ધ્રોળ રજવાડું Dhrōḷa rajavāḍuṁ ) was a princely state of British India in the north of the Kathiawar peninsula in what is now the state of Gujarat . Its capital was the place Dhrol .

The principality was founded in 1595 by Thakur Sahib Hardholji, a brother of the Jam Rawal of Nawanagar from the Jadeja - Rajput dynasty . Dhrol was a British protectorate from 1807 to 1947 . In 1921 it had an area of ​​732 km² and a population of 24,000. On August 15, 1947, Dhrol became a member of the Saurashtra State Union and on February 15, 1948, it joined India (see History of India ). On November 1, 1956, all princely states were dissolved and incorporated into the state of Bombay . With the partition of Bombay on May 1, 1960, Dhrol came to Gujarat .
