occupation

Diamond Connection is the title of a crime film for which scenes from the Turkish film Belali elmaslar by Kunt Tulgar have been mixed with passages shot by Sergio Bergonzelli . Usually the year of production is 1982–1985 and Bergonzelli is given as the sole director. The 73-minute long film was released on video for the first time in German-speaking countries.

action

In a plane crash, the lawyer Ferguson survived, but he had to undergo a face transplant and also lost his memory. The local police inspector soon faces gangsters after a shipment of diamonds that is suspected to be on board. It should be given to Abdul Pasha. The racing driver and sailor Alain and partisans, including the leader Mark and the doctor Karen, who operated on Ferguson, are also interested in the delivery. After the diamonds are found, the final of the parties involved will take place in Geneva.

criticism

Most of the critics didn’t leave the film with its amateurish composition, which also comes up with dialogues like “You have lost face, but don’t think about it” (about the accident victim). The Lexicon of International Films writes: “Completely confused gangster film with ridiculous special effects”. As far as the imponderables of exploitation cinema are concerned, the film scores massively, said Christian Keßler in his retrospective of Bergonzelli's films.

Remarks

The scenes filmed in Turkey are probably from 1978, the rest from 1984. The film, which is often passed off as an Italian production, is ascribed the original title Diamanti che scottano .
