Diamond Harbor is a small settlement on the Banks Peninsula in the urban area of Christchurch on the South Island of New Zealand .

geography

The settlement lies on the banks of the central southern part of Lyttelton Harbor , 13 km southeast of Christchurch city ​​center . The place has a ferry connection to Lyttelton on the north coast of the port, from where buses go to Christchurch.

history

Godley House , which was later the home of Mark Stoddart , stood in the settlement until 2012 . This is said to have been the namesake of the bay. The house was badly damaged in the earthquake in 2011 and demolished the following year.

population

In the 2013 census, the settlement had 1,467 inhabitants, 5.6% more than in the 2006 census.
