Diana Maria Chelaru (born August 15, 1993 in Oneşti , Bacau County ) is a former Romanian gymnast .

Career

In 2005 she joined the junior national team, where she trained with the coaches Aurica Nistor, Lăcrămioara Moldovan , Cristian Moldovan, Carmen Bogasiu, Ingrid Istrate and Daniel Nistor.

At the 2009 European Gymnastics Championships , she made her debut as a senior, where she reached 14th place in the final. In the same year she finished sixth on the ground, seventh in the jump and eighth on the uneven bars at the Glasgow Grand Prix. Her first participation in a World Cup was also in 2009 at the World Gymnastics Championships in London. Here she was 15th in the floor and jump finals.

2010 won bronze at the European Championships on the ground and with the team. At the world championships in the same year she was level on points with the Russian Alija Mustafina vice world champion on the ground. At the European Gymnastics Championships 2011 in Berlin, Chelaru won the silver medal on the floor.

At the 2012 Summer Olympics in London, she achieved the bronze medal behind the Olympic champions from the USA and Russia in the team competition with the Romanian women's squad.
