Dianne Lake (born February 28, 1953 ), called "Snake", is a former member of the Manson Family .

Life

childhood

Lakes parents belonged to an early hippie - municipality , on the Wavy Gravy Hog Farm in Tujunga , California tried to live a life that is not the conventional " American Way of Life " corresponded.

They gave 33-year-old Manson their written parental consent that their daughter could henceforth live with him and his girls. Besides the toddlers, Lake was the youngest member of the family .

Lake was Manson's preferred beating victim , who beat her almost every day, including with sticks and electric cables. Manson justified these educational measures with "karmic transgressions" on their part and an unresolved father conflict that could only be overcome by being beaten. Lake was very popular with the other family members, especially the males. She was close friends with Paul Watkins and Charles Watson . In her testimony at the murder trial, she testified that she was in love with Watson and that she immediately carried out any order from a male cult member of the family .

Immediately after the murders of Sharon Tate and the LaBianca couple , Lake fled to a remote farm with the main culprit Watson, avoiding the mass arrest on August 16, 1969 during a raid on the Spahn Movie Ranch . According to her court testimony, Watson confessed his involvement in the murders on this farm and said he enjoyed the killing.

In a major raid by police from Inyo County on 12 and 13 October 1969 the Barker Ranch in Death Valley and Lake was arrested. Police officer Jack Gardiner and his wife managed to win Lake's trust and get them to make a full statement in the murder trial of Watson, Patricia Krenwinkel , Susan Atkin and Leslie Van Houten . The Gardiner couple took in Lake as foster parents , and they later adopted her.

At the age of 16 years, Lake began under increasing LSD - flashbacks to suffer and was taken to Patton State Hospital admitted. A schizophrenic illness was diagnosed and treated there. With the help of a therapist and the support of her new parents, she graduated from high school and college and successfully completed a banking apprenticeship in Los Angeles .

Lake is married with several children and owns a house on the Pacific coast.
