Dianthus tripunctatus is a species of carnation ( Dianthus ).

features

Dianthus tripunctatus is an annual stem therophyte that reaches heights of 15 to 40 centimeters. The plant is sparsely branched and has a thin taproot . Non-flowering shoots are missing. The basal leaves are usually already dried up at the time of flowering.

The four outer sepals are up to 3/4 as long as the calyx. They are egg-shaped and have an awl, 5 to 12 millimeters long awn. The chalice is 15 to 18 millimeters in size and ribbed. It is finely warty on the ribs. The petals are pink in color and have three dark lines on the plate.

The flowering period extends from May to June.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 30.

Occurrence

Dianthus tripunctatus occurs mainly in the eastern Mediterranean in the Greek Aegean region, in western and southwest Anatolia , Cyprus , Lebanon and Palestine as well as in Italy on Elba and in Calabria . Information from Portugal and Algeria probably refer to inconsistent introductions.

It grows in the Phrygana , on rocky corridors, in fields and on open ground and inhabits altitudes of 0 to 750 meters in Crete.
