Dick Turpin
Richard Turpin ( September 21, 1705 , † April 7, 1739 ) was an English mugger and cattle thief in Epping Forest . His life serves as a model for the fictional character Dick Turpin in various works of literature , music and the theater and film industry.

Most of the stories take place in 18th century England . Citizen Richard Dick Turpin (Dick is the English short form of Richard) lives there . After he is betrayed by the authorities and receives no help from the judiciary, he becomes an avenger on his own behalf and a fighter against injustice against other citizens. He often acts in dual roles as a normal citizen and a mugger. In addition to the descriptions of fights, the stories are also based on jokes, tricks and deceptions.
