Breathless is a 90-minute episode of the German- Austrian television series Die Bergretter from ZDF . It is the sixth and last episode of the seventh season . Directed by Dirk Pientka, the script was written by Jens Maria Merz.

It's winter and Julia Siebenthal and Georg Fürth go through the mountains in search of stone age remains and caves. It comes to an argument and Georg falls into one of these unknown caves. Julia disappears and comes back with the politician Tom Reitlechner. He wants Georg's cell phone because he wrote him a text message that could put his political career at risk. But when the two are in the cave, they can't get out either. Because all three people are finally reported missing, the mountain rescue is now looking for them. But Katharina also falls into the cave, Markus climbs afterwards and neither of them get out again. The air down there is getting worse and the oxygen content is getting lower. Can the other mountain rescuers find and rescue them in time?
Michael meets doctor Verena and all mountain rescuers can celebrate a merry Christmas at Emilie's farm at the end.
