action
The two 18-year-old women Alexandra Marbach and Miriam Winkler get to know each other on a mountain tour, but break it off and walk alone through the mountains with the aim of reaching the mountain hut of the avalanche researcher Jochen Winkler. Miriam had shown a photo of her father, Jochen Winkler, on which Alexandra recognizes her own father's typewriter, who has been missing for three years. But they underestimate the dangers of the mountains during winter. So they set off an avalanche, which buries the mountain rescuers Markus and Tobias in a car that they and their team were about to rescue. Fortunately, protected in the car, they cannot crush the snow load, but they are short of air. The mountain rescuers are feverishly looking for the buried colleagues. With the horn of the car, the men signal the searchers so that they can be found and rescued in time.
For Markus, their mission is not over, he wants to find out who owned the parked and slipped car, who actually wanted to rescue it and in which it was then buried. The research leads to: Alexandra Marbach, who is stuck with Miriam up on the mountain and does not know which way to safely follow into the valley. There is only snow everywhere and orientation is almost impossible, and there is no cell phone reception either. When night falls, the two dig themselves into the snow so as not to freeze to death.
Markus finds out that Alexandra is not traveling alone and that Miriam accompanies her. Her parents are very worried and Jochen Winkler is determined to look for his daughter himself. Markus and the other mountain rescuers are not enthusiastic about it and when Markus learns from Winkler's colleagues that Winkler has been doing research in a mountain hut on the Gamskogel for some time, he suspects that this was also the goal of the girls. This gives the mountain rescuers a rough clue as to where to look for Alexandra and Miriam, because the night has obliterated all foot and ski tracks. Tobias flies to this hut with Michael, but there is nobody there. Since the typewriter seems conspicuous to them, they take it with them.
Jochen Winkler manages to find Miriam and he and Alexandra take her to a nearby weather station so that the severely hypothermic Alexandra can warm up there. He also wants to switch off the measuring devices so that they do not send any data down into the valley and help will soon be sent.
Markus now finds another connection between Alexandra and Miriam, because Alexandra's mother has a relationship with Miriam's father. He had led a double life and both women knew nothing of each other. And he seems to have more secrets, because why did he want to find his daughter alone? But it looks like he just wanted to prevent the girls from finding out about his duplicity themselves. He wanted to tell them alone what he now has the opportunity to do. He has to confess to Alexandra that her father was guilty of his own life, because three years ago he triggered an avalanche as part of his research. Aware of this guilt, he tried to comfort the widow and so the relationship with her came unintentionally.
Due to the lost data from the weather station, a helicopter is sent there to repair the error. This is how Alexandra and Miriam can be found and saved. Jochen Köhler, on the other hand, can no longer live with his guilt and takes his own life in the mountains.
