occupation

The Feuerengel is a 13-part German television series produced by Monaco Film GmbH for RTL , which takes place on a fictional Hamburg fire station , the “Citywache”.

action

The focus of the action is the team of seven firefighters from a fire station, who, in addition to their daily operations, also have a lot to deal with privately. After Christian Ohmke was unexpectedly appointed as the new platoon leader of the well-established operations department of the Hamburg City Guard, he succeeded in convincing his initially skeptical colleagues of his leadership qualities not only through his specialist knowledge, but also through his fair behavior. This is not so easy to accomplish, because Theo Grabowski, who had also aspired to this post, is always a role model for his colleagues when it comes to competence and reliability.

Furthermore, the firefighters Karl-Heinz Erlenkamp, Harry Kast, Alexander Strasser, who takes on the role of an outsider because he is neither very skilled nor particularly athletic, the risk-ready Markus Hoffmann and his father Wilfried belong to the team. Then there is Susanne Schulte, the only woman in the group who is used particularly to calm children or treat fire victims.

publication

The series was broadcast on RTL on Mondays during prime time from September 22, 1997 . After the quota expectations were not met, no second season was produced. The series was repeated in 2000 and 2001 on RTL and in 2003 on Super RTL . Since then, the series has not been shown on German free-to-air television.

In autumn 2009 the complete series was released on DVD.

Reviews

“Typical action series in which the exciting missions of a Hamburg fire station provide the background for some private entanglements and complicated interpersonal contacts. Nicolas König was able to practice rescue missions as one of the leading actors in "Die Feuerengel" before he took on a similarly dramatic job as captain Jens Blank in the successful ZDF series "Die Rettungsflieger".
