The story of the astronaut is a German film by Godehard Giese . The film premiered in the competition of the Max Ophüls Preis film festival on January 22, 2014. It was released in theaters on December 3, 2015.

The successful author Charlotte is writing her new book: The story of the astronaut. In order to find leisure for work, she travels to an island in the Mediterranean. Instead of working completely fictionally, she draws on the stories of her fellow human beings to give the novel more depth. The landlady of her pension, Renate, has been waiting for her husband to return for years; a grateful material for Charlotte. She makes Renate her title character and shifts the story into space. The confrontation with the old lady, however, gradually makes Charlotte question her own life and reminds her of her own painful past.
criticism
The film service ruled that the story of the astronaut was an “ambitiously failing debut film that is neither interested in a thriller plot nor in a female study, but rather confronted with the emptiness of people over 40 who are passively waiting for a better one Have set up time ”.
