Christian Halt (* 1970 in Essen ) is a German film music composer.

Life

Christian Halt composed his first film music at the age of 17 for the award-winning documentary Moraig by director Bernhard Pack . Through him he became familiar with film dramaturgy, editing and post-production. After studying film music and sound design at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , Halt received a scholarship from the Baden-Württemberg State Foundation that took him to Los Angeles. There he worked as a member of the production team of Henning Lohner and Hans Zimmer on the soundtracks of Catwoman and The Ring 2 .

After his return he set up his new studio SKYLIFE for film music production in Berlin, where he contributed music to films such as Double Take , The Story of the Astronaut and Liebmann . As audio director for the video game Arcania - Gothic 4 he also developed dynamic acoustic and musical concepts and led a small sound design / Foley artist team.

Christian Halt was nominated for the Horizon Award at the Surround Music Awards in Los Angeles for the production of the surround sound DVD-Audio "Off Space". Together with Eric Mootz, he designed the audio software SampleRobot, which won the special innovation prize at the Frankfurt Music Fair in 2006. The specialty of the software is that it can automatically generate sound fragments of an acoustic or electronic instrument, so-called samples and multisamples . The instrument digitized in this way can then be played via a sampler .

For the apps "Marvelous Movie Sound" and "Buchla Easel Remote Control" he worked as creative director and project manager. The successor to the Rubik's cube includes the Rubik's Cube Futuro, the many new features such as different sensors, lighting control, and sound and music output, gives Christian hold the German voice.

In 2016 he started a collaboration with IRCAM in Paris. Together with Frederick Rousseau he takes care of the implementation of the tuner software "The Snail" in app form.

Christian Halt teaches at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy , the Atelier Ludwigsburg-Paris and the Babelsberg Film University .

From 2006 to 2009 he was in the selection jury for "Young Composed" at the Baden-Württemberg State Association. In 2007 he was part of the jury for the short film music prize at the Braunschweig International Film Festival "Der Leo".
