Liebmann (alternative title: The Foreign Summer ) is a German-French fictional film by director Jules Herrmann from 2016. The main roles are played by Godehard Giese , Adeline Moreau and Fabien Ara. Liebmann was shown at the 66th Berlin International Film Festival in the section "Perspektive Deutsches Kino". It was shown at numerous other national and international festivals and received nominations for the Teddy Award , the European Film Prize and the German Film Critics' Prize . The cinema release in Germany was January 26th, 2017. The film was funded by the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW with 10,000 €.

Liebmann is Jules Herrmann's feature film debut. She shot the film in two and a half weeks. The shooting location was in the French region of Picardy , in a village near Laon in northern France. The film was made on the basis of 27 pages of a plot sketch and in close collaboration with the title actor Godehard Giese. This film experiment was only possible for Jules Herrmann because of an inheritance.

The film was produced by Jules Herrmann together with Roswitha Ester and Torsten Reglin.
