The witches Press - Journal of feminist agitation was one of 1972 to 1976 Basel appearing feminist magazine. She is considered the first German-speaking voice of the autonomous women's movement . It was published by Gunild Feigenwinter .

As part of the coverage of the founding announcement of the magazine Emma by Alice Schwarzer in 1976, which was controversial in the West German women's movement , Der Spiegel named the witch press as one of the publications that came out of the women's movement “with small editions and an insider- oriented market, apart from the large ones Media ". The television in the Federal Republic also took notice of the witch press and its publisher: Feigenwinter as well as the politician Helga Schuchardt (then FDP) and the Berlin filmmaker (and action council co- founder) Helke Sander were feminists in the second broadcast of the talk show in December 1974 Invited 3 to 9 .

The last edition of the witch press in 1976 contained the 51-page “Manifesto of Mothers”, in which Feigenwinter, as a feminist maternal rights, distanced herself from what she saw as the non-mother mainstream of the women's movement and left-wing equality ideology. Berlin's feminist women's newspaper Courage reported in its January 1977 issue on the manifesto, which presented a “radical criticism of the women's movement” that “should make us all think”, and printed its foreword.
