action
Józek is a teenager in Warsaw who lives alone with his mother. The mother had an accident and was confined to bed for months. She had worked as a seamstress and provided the small family with a meager income. Now this is also missing and Józek is forced to find a replacement. He joins the Legion of the Road . These are young people who earn their living by delivering and selling newspapers. Here Józek falls in love with Jaśka, a girl of the same age. But the money he earns is not enough. It takes too long to deliver; it would be more effective if Józek could deliver the newspapers on a bicycle. Józek learns about a bike race for young people. The main prize is a brand new bike.
