Pirate Island is an Australian television series for children and teenagers. The elaborately produced series was produced by Jonathan M. Shiff Productions in cooperation with ZDF , ZDF Enterprises and the Australian broadcaster Network Ten . The series has been in Germany by ZDF and the Ki.Ka broadcast.

In 2004 "The Pirate Island" was nominated for the Logie Award .

When the siblings Kate, Nicholas and Sarah Redding argue about their father's newly developed computer game , they are accidentally digitized with a scanner and land directly in the game. There the bloodthirsty pirates under Captain Blackheart fight with the shipwrecked children under the leadership of Carmen and Mars for the treasure of the golden idol . Of course, Kate, Nicholas and Sarah want to get back home as soon as possible, but to do that they need the scanner that Blackheart has brought. Ultimately, they too have no choice but to take part in the treasure hunt. Kate falls more and more in love with the charismatic Mars, with whom she is also in competition for the idol.

The islands

At first glance, the pirate islands are typical South Sea islands with subtropical vegetation and wide sandy beaches, but since they are the setting of a computer game, different laws apply here. Everywhere there are passages and portals to other areas of the islands or even to other islands. There are also secret items (power-ups) hidden that can help the player.

Characters

  • Kate Redding is the oldest of the three siblings and sees herself in the role of protector. She likes to tackle things and even lets Mars teach her to fight. Actually, she doesn't want to believe that she is in love with Mars, because after all he's just a made-up figure.
  • Nicholas Redding is Kate's younger brother, who always tries to stay out of trouble
  • Sarah Redding is the youngest of the siblings at thirteen. She is the first to realize that nature, and especially the singing flower bell , can help them very well.
  • Mars lives with the shipwrecked children, but has its own goals. Kate, who everyone thinks a witch, fascinates him because she is inscrutable for him and not so easy to defeat. When he thinks she has betrayed him, he starts working against her, but never reveals her secret hiding place.
  • Carmen is the leader of the shipwrecked children. Your sole goal is to get the treasure and, with its help, disappear from the island. She hates Kate because she has drawn the pirates' displeasure and is also taking Mars away from her. Her talent for medicinal herbs and potions is known on all islands.
  • Perry and Lizard are stranded children.

He himself says that his bird Malvin is the only living being that he has ever loved. His hatred of his siblings is even greater when they steal the bird because they believed that the scanner and console were hidden in the cage.

In 2007 the series was continued under the name " The Treasure of Fiji " ( Pirate Islands: The Lost Treasure of Fiji ), but none of the original actors returned to the series. The only recurring character was the pirate Blackheart, but this time he was played by John Noble .
