The villains are a musical group that is dedicated to the balancing act between classical music and world music. The ensemble consists of four instrumentalists who play trumpet , clarinet , accordion and double bass . In addition to concerts, the ensemble also offers very successfully staged music theater productions. The ensemble operates in the entire German-speaking area.

history

The group was founded in 2004 and has since participated in numerous music education projects throughout the German-speaking area . In 2006 the first production of a music theater on behalf of Jeunesse Wien premiered. Further productions were carried out for the Wiener Musikverein , the Bregenz Festival and the Philharmonie Luxemburg . These houses as well as the Lucerne Festival , the KKL Lucerne , the Philharmonie Köln, the Elbphilharmonie Hamburg , the Schleswig Holstein Festival and the Graz venues are among the venues of the ensemble.

With over 1000 concerts Die Schurken present their pieces for music education with great success in front of over 200,000 children in Austria, Germany, Luxembourg, Italy and Switzerland.

In 2008 and 2015, Die Schurken won the Young Ears Prize . Furthermore, they were awarded for the YEAH! Young EARopean Award 2013 nominated. In 2014 another award followed for the project "Unterwegs nach Umbidu". In 2015, the JOP Prize was awarded to the ensemble a second time in Berlin.

In 2010 the first evening concert program “Back and forth” with Macedonian musicians was created and in 2014 the staged evening concert “Odyssée - The villains in search of the most beautiful music”. 2015 first collaboration with the Lucerne Festival in the production “Unterwegs nach Umbidu”. In 2017 the very successful evening concert "Satisfraktion" followed and in 2018 the staged family concert "Paris! Paris!" as well as the staged concert "Die Probe" for young people on behalf of the Wiener Musikverein.
