The sun (tarot)

The sun is one of the also major arcana -called trump cards of the Tarot .

presentation

The card depicts a child riding a white horse under a personalized sun. Sunflowers can be seen in the background. Classical depictions show a boy and a girl standing hand in hand in front of a wall. At Haindl you can see a sun and a rose and a dawn in the background. In the Visconti-Sforza you can see a boy walking on a cloud with a sun mask in his hands.

interpretation

The sun symbolizes hope, idealism, the pursuit of “higher” values. But it also stands for mental clarity, not for illusions and utopias. Alchemically it represents the " Philosopher's Stone ".
