The investigation is for the TV -produced thriller after the novel by Stanislaw Lem .
action
The deceased disappeared from several morgues in an English area. Allegedly, some of them are said to have given signs of life. A shroud is said to have been bitten through. Inspector Gregory and Scotland Yard deal with the strange incident. Gregory thinks he saw one of the dead on the train. Neither criminologists nor coroners can explain what happened. The statistician Sciss, who was called in by the police, developed the daring theory that the disappearance of the corpses was related to the time of day, temperature and the distance to the last crime. He later discovered that there were noticeably few cancer cases in the area in question. Gregory does not believe in miracles and considers this theory to be humbug, but follows every lead and looks for a corpse molester .
The inspector bites more and more into the case, but finds no concrete evidence of a perpetrator. After all, he first suspects Sciss and then even his superior Sheppard of the perpetrator. Since these allegations do not add anything except criticism of his work, all investigations ultimately fizzle out and leave a perplexed police officer behind.
