At the center of the action are two friends, both women of Berlin society. One of them is married and with the help of her friend is cheating on her own husband. Joint trips are used as a cover to meet another man and cheat on the unsuspecting husband. During social evenings, the friend secretly arranges a meeting between the faithless wife and her boy of love. The reason of the heart was filmed in the Mutoskop studio in Berlin-Lankwitz until May 18, 1910 . Depending on the source, the one-act play was 141, 145 or 146 meters long, making it a short film. The production costs were 964.05 marks. The world premiere took place on July 1, 1910.
