Poworsk (Ukrainian Поворськ ; Russian Поворск , Polish Powórsk ) is a Ukrainian village in the oblast Wolyn . It is located in Kovel district , about 30 kilometers east of the district capital Kovel and 59 kilometers northwest of the oblast capital Lutsk .

On July 1, 2016, the village became the center of the newly established rural municipality Poworsk ( Поворська сільська громада Poworska silska hromada ). In 1918/1921 it fell to Poland and came to the Volhynian Voivodeship in the Powiat Kowel , Gmina Powórsk . As a result of the Hitler-Stalin Pact , the Soviet Union occupied the area and made the place the capital of the Poworsk Rajon of the same name in January 1940 , which was soon dissolved, added to the Manevychi Rajon and Poworsk remained a simple village. After Germany's invasion of the Soviet Union in June 1941, the place came under German rule until 1944 (in the Reichskommissariat Ukraine ), came back to the Soviet Union after the Second World War and was incorporated into the Ukrainian SSR , since 1991 Poworsk has been part of today's Ukraine.
