Die Vorboten are a German metal band that was founded in 2009 in Wismar in Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania .
Band history
The band was formed in 2009. With singer Karsten Palitschka, keyboard player Philipp Krätzer, guitarist Thomas Mende and drummer Florian Herrmann, all members of the predecessor band Kingdom Gone had already played together with the exception of the new bass player Stephan Schuster . Decisive for the renaming were the decision to write exclusively in German from now on and to give keyboarder Philipp Krätzer more space in the creative process of the band. In addition, the group began to work with the manager Karl Walterbach .
After the EP releases beginning & end (2010) and Lust & Laster (beginning 2011), the debut album Aufschrei was finally released on the Sonic Attack label in May 2011 . The band had previously founded the label together with the Saxon band Alpha Tiger . A third EP followed in December 2011 with Sturm & Drang .
Live the band is constantly active throughout Germany. I.a. She played at the Wave-Gotik-Treffen 2011 in Leipzig and in the opening act for Dark Age .
In November 2012 the band released their second album Existence .
In October 2014, the Harbingers accompanied the Apocalyptic Riders and Tanzwut on the Die Welt ist tief tour through the German-speaking area.
Music genre
While the early recordings still show the folk metal influences of the predecessor band , from the second EP keyboarder Philipp Krätzer gains more influence on the songwriting and begins to use synthesizers and samples, sometimes very superficially. At Aufschrei and Sturm & Drang , samples from field recording recordings are also used. Karsten Palitschka's singing is particularly characterized by almost recitative stanzas that are juxtaposed with very melodic refrains. As an influence he calls the actor Klaus Kinski . The guitars are mainly used in a riff-oriented manner and are often less in the foreground compared to the synthesizer arrangements. The drums are based on rock and thrash metal . Continuous double bass passages are typical .
Due to the German lyrics and the voice of Palitschka, the band is repeatedly compared to the Apokalyptische Reiter and less often to Rammstein . Thematically, questions and problems of personal reality such as fear or motivation as well as the relationship between the individual and society are in the foreground.
In addition to the obvious metal elements, influences from New German hardness and rock are recognizable. Even if the band calls their style Kraut-Metal , the Krautrock influence is only shown to a limited extent in the experimental use of synthesizers and the critical questioning of the musical and social environment. Especially with the current album existence of the forerunners is said to have a stylistically consistent continually turning to new German hardness.
