content
The Wayside School is probably the "highest school in the world" that the new student Todd has to adapt to. The other students see the illogic in the house as completely normal.
The Wayside was supposed to be a low building with 30 classrooms. But it turned into a high-rise with 30 classrooms on top of each other, which surprisingly has an origami bird that gives it stability.
The hallways are full of absurd things that really have no business there (e.g. cows). The classrooms are normal, but the staff room is more like a disco than a staff room. The cafeteria is huge, but where the food comes from - the kitchen - it's very messy.
Characters
- Todd is a new student at Wayside and has to get used to the “wayside” conditions.
- Mrs. Jewls is the class teacher. She is nice but treats Todd very unfairly.
- Dana ensures that the unbelievable number of rules and regulations of the wayside are observed. She's also the smartest in the class.
- Myron is Dana's best friend. He tries all the time to be the class representative, even though he is actually the least suitable in the class.
- Maurecia loves physical contact with other people. That means she prefers to hit the shoulder properly instead of just saying "Hi". If she really likes someone, she might be trying to beat them up.
- Mr. Louis Kidswater is a crazy director who is terrified of "the little people", as he calls the students. He only trusts Todd.
- Louis is the school's child-friendly caretaker who always supports the children.
- Mrs. Mush is the cook. Her food is just as unusual as she is. She also runs the talented class, where she only teaches the dead rat, Sammy.
