The Taming of the Hydra is the only music album by “shaban feat. Käptn Peng ”, a band by the brothers Johannes and Robert Gwisdek . It was released in 2012 on its own label Kreismusik . Both musicians are now part of the band Käptn Peng & die Tentakel von Delphi .

Thomas Winkler awarded 5 out of 6 stars for the Musikexpress . shaban and Käptn Peng are "not breaking new ground, but they are creating a devastated wasteland." The flow of Peng is "incomparably more rhythmic" than that of Maeckes and Cro , and he also falls back on a broader range of topics.
The Zitty wrote, "behind the catchy, cheerful brisk Music [BE REDUCED] very many other levels." Captain Peng combined "the rhythmic flow of Nelly with the paranoid role play of an Eminem ". Nevertheless, the magazine described "the truly great debut album" as "largely free of influence [...]".
