The blue panther is the best-known German title in the Franco-Belgian comic series La Patrouille des Castors (Die Biber-Patrouille ) , published between 1954 and 1993 .

action

A group of boy scouts has exciting adventures at their tent camps. The places of action are initially Belgium and France. Later travels also take her to distant areas such as India, Africa or Asia. The blue panthers consist of five brave boys whose journey names are assigned certain character traits.

  • Mustang: the boss who always keeps a clear head
  • Hangover: the cunning daredevil who over time becomes the second leader
  • Falke: the astute thinker
  • Ox: the fat, lazy, funny and clumsy contemporary
  • Mosquito: the youngest, the baby boy

background

MiTacq developed the series based on a design by Jean-Jacques Schellens. After Dupuis had accepted the idea, Georges Troisfontaines advised him to use the proven author Jean-Michel Charlier . The scout group originally consisted of six members. Charlier left out the boy with the nickname Rabbit from the third episode. In Le trophée de Rochecombe , MiTacq was supported on eight pages (4–11) by Eddy Paape . The blue uniform in L'autobus hanté was replaced by a red shirt and brown trousers in 1965, in line with the reformed dress code of the Belgian scouting body from the previous year. Between 1967 and 1971 there was an interruption because Charlier could no longer deliver stories due to lack of time. Charlier left the series in 1979 after 22 albums. MiTacq carried it on mostly alone until his death. The texts for Le calvaire du mort pendu and Torrents sur Mésin were written by Marc Wasterlain .

Publications

The series appeared in Spirou magazine between 1954 and 1993 and was published by Dupuis in single albums and later collected in the Tout MiTacq series. Another complete edition, expanded to include numerous illustrations and information, started Dupuis in 2011. The series appeared for the first time in German between 1958 and 1961 in The serene Fridolin , still under the title Six on a large journey . Bastei published the 22 stories written by Jean-Michel Charlier in 1980 and 1981 as an independent series and renamed the series at random to Blue Panthers (subtitle: "Adventure of the Conspiratorial Five"). Salleck Publications has been publishing the complete edition published by Dupuis from 2011 under the true-to-original title Die Biber-Patrouille in German since 2018 .
