The starting point for the documentation is a grave that was found during excavations in Taranto in 1957 , which was identified as the grave of an Olympian based on the additions and dates back to around 500 BC. Is dated. Brief reports from archaeologists and paleontologists involved in the study of the artifacts and bones alternate with re-enacted scenes from ancient sports.
The bone findings allowed conclusions to be drawn about the athlete's eating habits, which consisted primarily of meat and seafood, as well as his physique. The price amphoras found as grave goods and specific signs of wear and tear on the bones identify him as a pentathlete . What follows is a computational comparison with modern athletes, in which the ancient athlete does surprisingly well. This is followed by depictions of various disciplines from the ancient Olympic Games. The documentation ends with the finding that the Taranto athlete suffered from arthritis and died at the age of about thirty.
