The great natural wonder show was a quiz show that from 2006 to 2017 by the Südwestrundfunk produced and first aired.

An adaptation of the knowledge show has been running on Czech television under the title Zazraky prirody since 2009 . In 2011 Turkey followed with the first season of Varlik Harikalari .

Subject area

The show dealt with natural phenomena from the animal and plant world, geology , but also from the human body and behavior. Multiple-choice questions served as a starting point for the topics, and the four prominent guests on the couch received points for answering them correctly. The guest with the most points received a trophy at the end of the program in the first few years . As of 2014, the guests no longer played for themselves, but in teams of two. The winners received 10,000 euros, which they donated to a good cause.

Moderation

The show was moderated by Frank Elstner and Ranga Yogeshwar ; Elstner mainly conducted the conversations with the guests and asked the multiple-choice questions, while Yogeshwar explained the topics covered and presented experiments. Two of the guests and Yogeshwar each presented a film on which they were involved.

Sender and airtime

The program was broadcast at irregular intervals on Thursdays at 8:15 pm on Das Erste; older programs were repeated in the regional programs SWR Fernsehen , rbb Fernsehen , BR Fernsehen and hr-fernsehen . From 2006 to 2015, 25 shows were broadcast. From summer 2013 there were two editions per year.
