The totally crazy rally (DTVR) is a parlor game for up to eight human players for the PC, produced by Blue Byte in 1995 .

Gameplay

The player (s) take part in a rally across Europe . The aim is to have the highest account balance among the participants at the end of the rally. The game can be played by up to eight people on a PC, if necessary the game characters can also be controlled by the computer.

Structure of the playing field

The playing field shows a map of Europe on which various event fields, including the stage goals, can be found. The event fields are connected to one another by roads in the country and by dotted lines above water. The player is bound in his movement on this given route. A distinction is made between several types of event fields, each of which has different properties:

  • Blue event fields - When stopping on a blue field, the player receives a random amount of money of a maximum of ~ 30,000 DM transferred to his account.
  • Red event fields - a random amount of money of up to ~ 130,000 DM will be deducted from his account balance.
  • Yellow event spaces - the player draws an event card
  • Purple event spaces - the player can buy or sell event cards according to his wishes and financial possibilities.
  • Gray event spaces - cities where the player can buy land. These properties yield a certain amount of rent per round and thus form a fixed source of income for the player independent of the luck of the dice and thus of the luck of the event.
  • Black and white striped event fields - capital cities and milestones. If you are the first to reach the specified destination, you will receive an increasing amount of money from stage to stage. The player can also buy land here, which usually differ from the value of the land in the surrounding cities.

control

At the beginning of a turn, the player rolls the dice and after the roll has taken place, moves over the number of spaces rolled until the available moves are used up and he comes to an event space. The input is done by Enter or arrow keys on the keyboard . Alternatively, you can play with the mouse or the joystick.

Special promotions

The player has a limited selection of actions with which he can influence himself or other players. These actions are triggered by played event cards. For example, you can use a card to lower the purchase price of land in a city, let other players skip a round, balance the account balance of all players, chase the tax authorities on other players, bridge large distances quickly with airplane tickets, etc.

Additional features

The length of the game (the number of stages to be driven) is freely selectable. After a certain number of stages, the area of ​​the former Eastern Bloc countries, initially delimited by barriers, becomes accessible to the players. To make the hunt for money more exciting, an "unauthorized" computer player named Dr. Drago in the field of the participants, but not to win stages, but only to bully individual players financially or in their ability to move.
