The Broken Doll is a German silent film fun play from 1914 with Albert Paulig and Manny Ziener in the leading roles.
action
A shop servant is hired to transport a life-size model doll. When it accidentally slips away from him, it breaks and breaks into several pieces. His lover, who works as an ironer in a cleaning shop, has the savior idea to help the unlucky bird. Since the doll was intended for a fashion store and the ironer bears a certain resemblance to her, she first goes to the fashion salon and can then be transported to a customer on a handcart. Since she is supposed to stay there overnight, the ironer starts to really haunt the darkness and makes sure that nobody can find peace on this turbulent night. The next morning, the householder found his doll broken - it was the original parts of the broken doll. Shortly before, the clerk had simply removed his friend, the ironer, from the house.
Production notes
The broken doll was probably made in spring 1914 and passed film censorship in May 1914. While a first German screening cannot be made out before October 2, 1915, The Broken Doll was shown for the first time in Vienna at the beginning of December 1914.
criticism
"The joke is brilliantly exploited, well played and entertaining to the end thanks to the excellent final punch."
