Diederich Meier (politician, 1748)

Diederich Meier (born February 18, 1748 in Bremen ; † December 2, 1802 there ) was a German lawyer , Bremen councilor and Bremen mayor .

biography

Meier was the son of a secretary at the Bremen Higher Court. He was married to Amelia Smidt, daughter of Mayor Diederich Smidt (1711–1787). Both had nine children, including Mayor Diederich Meier .

He completed a grammar school in Hanau and from 1765 the Illustre grammar school in Bremen . After graduating from high school, he studied law at the University of Marburg from 1767 and received his doctorate in 1771. jur. In 1773 he became a councilor in Bremen in the Bremen council . From December 19, 1794 to December 2, 1802 he was the successor to Daniel Tindemann Bremen's mayor ; Liborius Diederich Post followed him into the office.
