Diedrich Hoyer the Elder

Diedrich Hoyer the Elder (* around 1490 in Bremen ; † July 22, 1548 in Bremen) was a Bremen councilor and Bremen mayor .

biography

Hoyer was the son of councilor Albert Hoyer. He was since 1521 Bremer councilor and since 1531 mayor of Bremen . His coat of arms on the Bremen town hall testifies to his activity. In 1542 he moved into Blomendal Castle as a tenant . In 1548 Blomendal was leased to him for another 18 years. This honored his efforts to reconcile the city of Bremen with Emperor Charles V at the Reichstag in Augsburg in 1548. He died shortly afterwards. His family stayed in the house.
He was married to Tibbeke von Borken. His son Dr. Erich Hoyer also became mayor of Bremen.
His grandson Diedrich Hoyer the Younger was Bremen's mayor since 1608.
