Diego Castro Giménez (born July 2, 1982 in Pontevedra ) is a Spanish football player who plays for Perth Glory in the Australian A-League .

Career

Castro began his career in his hometown in Pontevedra CF in Segunda División B . In 2003 he went to Andalusia for Málaga FC , where he mostly played for the reserve team in the following three years.

After the relegation of Malaga in the 2005/06 season , Castro moved to Sporting Gijón in the Segunda División . With the Asturians , the Spaniard quickly developed into a regular under coach Manuel Preciado . In 2008 he rose with his team to the Primera División .

In the following three years, Castro with a total of 25 league goals played a major role in ensuring that Gijón was repeatedly able to secure relegation. After his contract after the 2010-11 season had expired, the Spaniard moved to the 2011/12 season for FC Getafe .
