Career

The 1.80 meter tall midfielder Dorta was at the beginning of his career from 1988 to 1991 in the ranks of Central Español . From 1991 to mid-1995 he was a player at Club Atlético Peñarol . The Aurinegros were Uruguayan champions during this period in 1993 and 1994. In 1993 and 1994 he also reached the finals of the Copa Conmebol with the club . This was followed by a career post in Argentina at CA Independiente until the end of 1997 . There, Dorta called "el Jefe" was used in 17 official games. For 1998 he returned to Peñarol again. Due to chronic health problems, Dorta, who had been plagued by injuries since his first stint with the "Aurinegros", had to end his career after only 72 minutes of competitive play during his second engagement with the Montevideans.

National team

Dorta belonged to the Uruguayan U-20 team , which at the U-20 South American Championship in 1988 and 1991 and at the World Youth Championship in 1991 participated. At the Junior World Championships he played in two tournament matches (no goal). Dorta made his debut on March 20, 1990 in the Uruguayan senior team . He played a total of 23 international matches. He didn't score a goal. He was used four times in the World Cup qualification for the 1994 World Cup and twice in the qualifying games for the 1998 tournament. He was a member of the squad at the tournaments for the Copa America 1995 and contributed to winning the title with six tournament games. His last national team appearance was on July 7th, 1996 when he played under coach Héctor Núñez in the World Cup qualification in the 1: 3 defeat against Colombia.
