Diego Manuel Rodríguez , full name Diego Manuel Rodríguez Da Luz (born August 8, 1986 in Montevideo ), is a Uruguayan football player .

Career

The 1.76 meter tall defensive player Rodríguez belonged to the first division squad of Club Atlético Peñarol from at least the Clausura 2003 to the Clausura 2008 . In 2003 the "Aurinegros" became Uruguayan champions. In the 2008/09 season he was in Italy at FC Bologna under contract and denied seven games in Serie A . He didn't score a goal. Then he was active in the Apertura 2009, the Clausura 2010 and the Apertura 2010 for the Argentine first division club Club Atlético Huracán and was used 38 times in these three rounds in the Primera División . He scored three goals. In 2011 he worked for Defensor Sporting in Montevideo, where he was under contract until 2014. He played a total of 38 games in the Primera División and scored one goal (2010/11 season: 9 games (no goal); 2011/12: 23 (1); 2012/13: 6 (0); 2013/14: 0 (0)). He also played in eight Copa Libertadores matches . He remained without a personal goal. After he didn't get a chance at all in his last season with the Montevideans, he joined league and city rivals River Plate Montevideo during the 2013/14 season in 2014 . By the end of the season, he played twelve games in the Primera División and scored once in the opposing goal. In the 2014/15 season he was used in 21 first division games (one goal) and four matches (no goal) of the Copa Sudamericana 2014 . For the 2015/16 season, he has made 15 further premier league appearances (no goal) and four (no goal) in the Copa Libertadores 2016 . In the 2016 season, he was used in twelve top division games (no goal).

National team

Rodríguez belonged to the U-17 team of Uruguay coached by Jorge Da Silva , who took part in the U-17 South American Championship in Bolivia in 2003 and finished in 4th place.
