Abraham Diepraem
Abraham Diepraem (* 1622 in Rotterdam ; † July 1670 there) was a Dutch painter .
Diepraem was a student of the painter Dirck Stoop , who later moved him to the studio of the genre painter Hendrik Martensz. Sorgh mediated. Studying (and copying) works by Adriaen Brouwer also influenced Diepraem's artistic career.
At the age of 26, Diepraem was accepted as a member of the painters' guild in Dordrecht in 1648 . Diepraem lived and worked there in Dordrecht for a few years.
Abraham Diepraem died in Rotterdam Hospital in 1670 and was buried on July 16.
Diepraem's early artistic work can definitely be compared with Jan Miense Molenaers and Hendrik Martensz Sorghs . But as equal as he may be, in total Diepraem could not surpass Adriaen Brouwer , Adriaen van Ostade and David Teniers the Younger . Arnold Houbraken compared him to Frans Hals , but also criticized incoherent lines in his late work and attributed this to drunkenness.
