Dieter Abbo Kalbhen

Dieter Abbo Kalbhen (born January 27, 1934 in Husum ; † October 21, 2014 in Euskirchen ) was a German pharmacologist and university professor.

Life

Dieter Abbo Kalbhen studied pharmacy at the Technical University of Braunschweig and the Rheinische Friedrich-Wilhelms-Universität Bonn . In 1956 he became a member of the Corps Frisia Braunschweig. In 1959 he passed the exam. In 1962 he was awarded a Dr. rer. nat. PhD. In the same year he went to the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, Maryland, USA. In 1963 he did a postdoc at the University of California, Berkeley . In 1964 he returned to Bonn, where he completed his habilitation in 1969 at the Pharmacological Institute of the Medical Faculty. In 1971 he was appointed Professor of Pharmacology and Toxicology and Scientific Council. In 1973 and 1974 he stayed again for a research stay in Berkeley. In 1999 he retired.

Kalbhen worked in the fields of inflammation and rheumatism research as well as psychotropic drugs. He wrote numerous articles in scientific works and published over 150 scientific articles.
