Dieter Gummer (born August 25, 1951 in Speyer ) is a German politician .

Life

Gummer grew up in Böhl-Iggelheim in the Palatinate . He completed an administration apprenticeship at the Ludwigshafen am Rhein city ​​administration and trained as a senior civil servant. He was employed in Ludwigshafen for 25 years. While working, he completed two further training courses at the Rhine-Neckar Administration and Business Academy, and in 1983 he obtained the Administrative Academy "Diploma" and in 1989 the degree in business administration (VWA) . In 1993 Gummer moved to the Haßloch community as a managing official . In 2001 he became head of the church administration office of the Protestant community in Mannheim .

After Gustav Cabinet resigned from the office of Lord Mayor of Hockenheim for health reasons , Gummer applied in the large district town with the support of the SPD . In the 2004 election, he received the second highest number of votes out of eight applicants, before winning the second round with 55.07 percent. Later Gummer was also elected for the SPD in the district council of the Rhine-Neckar district and the association assembly of the Rhine-Neckar metropolitan region . Gummer's term of office as Mayor of Hockenheim ended on August 31, 2019.

He was seriously injured in an attack by an unknown person on July 15, 2019.
