Dieter Hempel (born September 6, 1947 ) is a former German football player who was active at BFC Dynamo in the GDR Oberliga , the top division in GDR football .

Athletic career

As a player for BSG Chemie Zeitz , Dieter Hempel was appointed to the squad of the GDR junior national team in 1965 . By 1966 he played ten junior internationals, in which he was mainly used in attack and once scored a goal. At that time he was also used in the men's division of BSG Chemie, which played in the second-rate GDR league . In the 1965/66 season he was called up in 13 of the 30 league games. While he only scored one goal, he made 22 league appearances in 1966/67 and was successful as a goalscorer five times. For the season 1967/68 Hempel moved to East Berlin to the BFC Dynamo. There he first played with the 2nd team in the third class city league, with which he rose to the GDR league. For the 1968/69 season he was accepted into the BFC's league team and played with her in his first league game on the second league match day. By the end of the first half of the season he was used in ten league matches. He was then transferred back to the 2nd team, where he played five GDR league games and scored three goals. At the end of the season he was used again in two league games. In his twelve league appearances, he could not score goals. He was then released from the BFC and handed over to the BFC FSG Dynamo Frankfurt branch . There Hempel played two seasons in the third-class district league Frankfurt (Oder) . In 1971 he rose with the team in the GDR league, and the FSG was transferred to Fürstenwalde / Spree , where it took up the future as SG Dynamo Fürstenwalde . In Fürstenwalde Hempel played three seasons in the GDR league, where he completed 60 games of the 66 games played. He scored 25 goals, in 1973/74 he was Fürstenwalder's top scorer with ten goals. Although not yet 27 years old, Dieter Hempel ended his career in high-class football in the summer of 1974. There he had completed twelve league games without scoring and 100 GDR league with 34 goals within six seasons. He went back to Frankfurt (Oder) and joined the SG Dynamo Ost Frankfurt, which played in the fourth class district class. With her he rose to the district league in 1975 and was active there until 1983.
