Dieter Kropp
Dieter Kropp (* 1961 in Barntrup , Lippe ) is a German harmonica player , singer , composer and author . His music can be assigned to the genres of blues , rock 'n' roll and rhythm and blues .
Music and style
In the early 1980s Dieter Kropp began playing the blues harp and has been a professional musician since 1986. The collaboration with the pianist Axel von Hagen is considered to be a style-forming factor for his music. Blues harp players like Walter Horton , Charlie Musselwhite and Sonny Boy Williamson inspired him.
Teaching activity and teaching media
Dieter Kropp has been passing on his knowledge in blues harp workshops since 1989. In 1990 the textbook "Blues Harping" was published by Hohner Verlag, with Dieter Kropp and Steve Baker as authors. In Voggenreiter Verlag published in 2006 his book "Dieter Kropp's Blues Harp Songbook" and 2009 the book "Blues Harp School". Further textbooks from Voggenreiter Verlag followed.
radio
From 1991 to 2004 he presented a monthly blues radio show for Radio Bremen .
Nominations and Awards
- In 1995 Dieter Kropp was awarded the Lippe Regional Association's Culture Prize.
- The album Herzensbrecher , released in 2005, was named “Best National Blues Album of the Year” in Bluesnews magazine
- The 2011 album "Schönen Gruß vom Blues" was nominated for first prize at the German Blues Awards .
- Nomination for a German Blues Award 2014 in the harmonica category for the album "Eine Schöne Bescherung"
