Dieter Lau (classical philologist)

Dieter Lau (born February 22, 1940 in Regensburg ) is a German classical philologist and historian .

Life

Lau studied Classical Philology , History and Philosophy at the Ludwig Maximilians University (LMU) from 1962 to 1967 and was active in the Corps Hercynia Munich in the first semester . In 1972 he was summa cum laude for Dr. phil. PhD . In the early years still an assistant at the LMU, he went in 1976 as Assistant Professor at the University of Bielefeld . There he completed his habilitation in 1991. In 1992, he accepted the call from the University of Duisburg-Essen to the chair for the cultural history of Greek and Latin.
