Dieter Martin

Dieter Martin (* 1939 ) is a legal scholar , textbook author and former director of the institute who has dealt in particular with monument law.

Life

From 1963 he studied law , economics and art history at the Ludwig Maximilians University in Munich . In 1971 he received his doctorate with a thesis on municipal science. After that he was head of the building permit authority in Regensburg for four years and deputy director of the Bavarian State Office for Monument Preservation for 15 years . From 1994 to 2009 he was the senior academic director of the Institute for Monument Preservation at the University of Bamberg .

His work "Handbuch der Denkmalpflege", published together with Michael Krautzberger and others, is considered the standard work on the subject and has been reissued several times.
