Dieter Prätzel-Wolters

Dieter Prätzel-Wolters (* 18th November 1950 in Emden ) is a German mathematician , Professor of Industrial Mathematics at the University of Kaiserslautern and former head of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics .

Life

Prätzel-Wolters studied mathematics, physics and economics in Hamburg and Bremen from 1973 to 1976 . He completed his studies at the University of Bremen with a diploma in mathematics. This was followed by his doctorate with Diederich Hinrichsen in mathematics at the University of Bremen until 1981 . The title of the dissertation is Feedback morphisms between linear systems: a unified approach to state space systems, transfer functions and system matrices .

Before being appointed professor at the Technical University of Kaiserslautern in 1987, Prätzel-Wolters was employed at the Mathematical Institute at the University of Oldenburg from 1976 to 1978 and from 1978 to 1987 assistant at the Center for Dynamic Systems at the University of Bremen. Prätzel-Wolters headed the Graduate College Technomathematics from 1991 to 2001 and was director of the Fraunhofer Institute for Industrial Mathematics from 2001 to 2019.

Prätzel-Wolters' research interests include systems and control theory .

Awards

In 2011, Prätzel-Wolters was awarded the Order of Merit of the State of Rhineland-Palatinate .
