Dieter Prestin (born August 23, 1956 in Hürth ) is a former German soccer player .
Before his professional career, he made it into the district and Middle Rhine selection and played nine junior international matches for the DFB. In the B-youth of the FC under coach Erich Rutemöller , he set the record of 103 goals this season. With the A-youth coached by Jupp Röhrig , Prestin became German runner-up in 1974. Prestin still passed his Abitur at the Ernst-Mach-Gymnasium Hürth .
Dieter Prestin received his first professional contract with 1. FC Köln in 1975 . In the first two years it was only used sporadically. He experienced his breakthrough in the championship season 1977/1978 , when he contributed the goals to 1: 0 and 3: 1 in the away game against the biggest competitor Borussia Mönchengladbach on the 10th matchday for the 5-2 victory of Cologne . At the end of the season, 1. FC Cologne was just ahead of the Gladbach German champions. In the following years he developed into a regular in the Cologne back team and made a total of 246 Bundesliga appearances by the end of his career in 1989 , which he completed exclusively for 1. FC Cologne. In addition to the German championship in 1978, he won the DFB Cup three times : in 1977 and 1978 still on the bench, in 1983 against local rivals SC Fortuna Köln he was a regular player on the field.
From 1983 he prepared for the time after professional football and completed an apprenticeship as an insurance salesman with the Gothaer Insurance company, which is closely related to FC . Professionally, Dieter Prestin has been running a sports insurance agency in Pulheim since 1990 and for several years at his retirement home in Burggen in Upper Bavaria. Prestin lived in Quadrath-Ichendorf since his active time , whose FC Quadrath-Ichendorf he temporarily trained. Prestin has a daughter and a son who joined the company as managing director.
