from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Dieter Rasch (born April 13, 1935 in Zella-Mehlis ) is a German mathematician and professor emeritus at Wageningen University (Netherlands).

Life

He quickly grew up in Zella-Mehlis and studied mathematics from 1953 to 1955 at the Friedrich Schiller University in Jena and from 1955 to 1958 business mathematics at the University of Leipzig , which he graduated with a diploma. He received his doctorate in 1961 from the University of Leipzig with a thesis on experimental design in factor analysis. In 1965 he completed his habilitation at the University of Rostock with a thesis on nonlinear regression (growth curves). From 1958 to 1991 he worked at the Research Center for Animal Production Dummerstorf-Rostock as head of the biometrics department. From 1991 to 2000 he was professor for probability theory and mathematical statistics at the Mathematical Institute of Wageningen University and headed this institute for two years. After half-year visiting professorships at the Universities of Vienna and Klagenfurt , Rasch took on a professorship at the Institute for Statistics and IT at the University of Natural Resources and Life Sciences in Vienna from 2007 to 2010 , where he still works as a scientific advisor to the Methods Center for Experimental Design.

Act

Dieter Rasch's main areas of research are statistical design of experiments and actually non-linear regression. He is co-editor and author of the procedure library for experimental planning and evaluation, which appeared in five editions. Rasch is an Honored Fellow of the Institute of Mathematical Statistics, Boston. He contributed to 63 books and over 280 scientific publications and organized several international conferences in Rostock, Vienna. and Salzburg
