Dieter Ruddies (born October 28, 1921 in Alt-Kattenau ; † October 20, 2015 ) was a German local politician and entrepreneur.

Life

Ruddies was born in Alt-Kattenau. The son of the teacher Robert Ruddies spent his youth in Riedhof (Narpgallen). After attending grammar school in Gumbinnen , he took part in the campaigns in France, the Balkans and Russia during World War II . The captain and commander of a tank grenadier battalion came to Fredeburg in the Sauerland in November 1945 after fleeing from East Prussia . He worked and lived there with his family until his death.

In 1946, Ruddies began producing everyday objects such as wooden toys, hand coffee grinders and wallpapering tables. He later made wooden furniture and, in the 1960s, bathroom furniture. The founder of today's Burgbad company acquired Kama Bad GmbH in Greding-Grafenberg in 1990 and the French Société d'Equipement Postformé (SEP) a year later. Burg Möbel Dieter Ruddies GmbH & Co. KG was later converted into burgbad Aktiengesellschaft.

His commitment to local politics as the city representative of the former city of Fredeburg began in the early 1960s. In 1969 he became mayor of the city of Fredeburg. After the municipal reorganization he was from 1975 to 1981 chairman of the CDU parliamentary group in the city council of Schmallenberg . In 1995 the family established the Dieter and Ursula Ruddies Foundation.

Ruddies died at the age of 93. He was buried in Bad Fredeburg.
