Dieter Schneider (fencer)

Dieter Schneider (born February 20, 1959 in Koblenz ) is a former German saber fencer and participant in the 1984 Olympic Games and 1988 Olympic Games . He fought at FC Tauberbischofsheim .

Schneider was German runner-up in saber fencing in 1980 and 1982 . In addition, he took third place in four other championships. At the Olympic Games in Los Angeles in 1984 and in Seoul in 1988 , he took part with the saber team. In 1984 Schneider, Jürgen Nolte , Jörg Stratmann , Jörg Volkmann and Freddy Scholz lost the battle for third place and narrowly missed a medal as the fourth-placed team. In 1988 the team ( Becker , Kempenich , Nolte, Thönneßen , Schneider) came in sixth.

Together with the open water swimmer Thomas Lurz , Schneider founded the Thomas Lurz and Dieter Schneider Sports Foundation in 2012, which is intended to promote research and projects in the field of disabled sports and the sports festival NoLimits! organized.
